Pump Design Features

A996 – The Superior In-Line Design

  • In-line pump configurations are available in multiple designs, including close-coupled, rigid-coupled, and flexibly-coupled models with integral bearings. Among these, only the flexibly-coupled design—exemplified by the A996—offers a no-compromise engineering approach, delivering superior alignment, extended bearing life, and enhanced serviceability under demanding operating conditions.
  • Close-coupled configurations present maintenance limitations due to restricted access to critical components, whereas rigid-coupled designs typically incorporate extended, unsupported shafts that are susceptible to runout, deflection, and dynamic imbalance—factors that significantly compromise bearing and mechanical seal life expectancy.

Establishing Standards for Reliability

    • The A996 is engineered for maximum operational reliability, featuring an optimized shaft diameter and minimal overhang to extend mechanical seal and bearing service life. Precision-machined components ensure factory-set alignment between pump and motor, eliminating the need for on-site alignment procedures. The hydraulic and mechanical loads are managed entirely by the pump assembly, allowing for the use of readily available, standard C-face motors without the need for custom or reinforced motor designs

Space-Saving In-Line Design for Cost Efficiency

  • In-line pumps are gaining popularity among users due to their compact footprint and lower installation costs.
  • Installation is simplified by the in-line configuration, which allows the pump to be mounted directly within the piping system—similar to a valve—eliminating the need for baseplates or grouting. Factory-set alignment ensures no field alignment is required, while the rigid, close-coupled design maintains pump integrity and performance, remaining unaffected by pipe strain or thermal expansion-induced misalignment.

  Dynamic Sealing

  • Ideally used for Corrosives and Slurry Application
  • Eliminate need for Mechanical Seal
  • No need for seal cooling water
  • Utility cost is Reduced
  • Less Expensive than a Slurry Mechanical Seal

High Temperature Application

  • Finned Cooler:Directly cools oil for lower bearing temperature. Requires minimum cooling water.
  • Corrosion resistant construction. Recommended for temperature over 350°F (177°℃)
  • Jacketed Stuffing Box:Keep proper temperature control of sealing environment. Perfect for polymerizing liquids.

Ease of Maintenance

  • In-line Mounting: The pump installs directly within the pipeline, minimizing floor space requirements and simplifying system layout.
  • No Field Alignment Required: Factory-set alignment between the pump and motor eliminates the need for on-site coupling adjustments during installation.
  • Back Pull-Out Design: The rotating assembly can be removed without disturbing the piping, allowing for quick and efficient maintenance.
  • External Impeller Adjustment: Allows precise clearance setting between the impeller and wear surface without disassembling the pump, optimizing performance and extending component life.

Safety

  • ANSI B15.1 Coupling Guard: Equipped with a compliant coupling guard in accordance with ANSI B15.1 standards to ensure personnel protection from rotating components.
  • Ductile Iron Frame and Motor Support: Constructed with high-strength ductile iron for superior structural integrity, impact resistance, and long-term durability under demanding operating conditions.
  • Fully Serrated Flanges: Features fully serrated flange faces to enhance gasket grip and sealing reliability, minimizing the risk of leakage under thermal and mechanical stresses.
